Series history
Dubai issued ten stamps on 20 January 1964 for the 11th World Scout Jamboree, held at Marathon, Greece, in 1963. A. Tcheterian designed the set; the stamps are offset-printed and perforated 12. Four designs run through the values: scouts forming a human pyramid, a bugler before camp tents, a march-past with a wolf-head staff, and a march-past with a bugler. Ordinary postage values are 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 naye paise; airmail values of 20, 30, 40 and 70 naye paise and 1 Gulf rupee are inscribed AIR MAIL. Print runs ranged from 1,000,000 of the 1 naye paise to 50,000 of the 70 naye paise and 1 rupee airmails. Five imperforate souvenir sheets accompanied the set, each a block of four of one airmail design (80 naye paise, 120 naye paise, 160 naye paise, 280 naye paise and 4 rupees), in an edition of 19,000 sets of sheets.
