Series history

Haiti released at Port-au-Prince on 18 October 1966 a six-value set promoting education through literacy, Scouting and audiovisual means. Two of the six stamps carry the scout design inscribed L'ÉDUCATION PAR LE SCOUTISME: a campaign hat with a fleur-de-lis badge, a reef knot, a bell tent and a three-finger salute; the 0,10 gourde postage value also shows an open book with rays of light. The matching 1,00 gourde is an airmail (POSTE AERIENNE). The stamps were printed by the German State Printing Works in lithography and engraving, perforated Comb 14 × 13½, and issued in panes of 50.
