Series history
Ceylon issued two commemoratives in Colombo on 19 September 1967 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Ceylon Girl Guide Association. The stamps are inscribed in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
Both values share one design: a Girl Guide in a green saree-style uniform and white blouse gives the three-finger salute. At left a circular badge holds a trefoil charged with an elephant above the dates 1917–1967; at right flies the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts flag, dark blue with a yellow trefoil. The 3 c has a green field with an orange foot band; the 25 c reverses those colours with an orange field and a green foot band. Each stamp is lettered GIRL GUIDES across the foot.
De La Rue printed the set by offset lithography, 36 × 25 mm, comb perforated 12¼ × 12¾, in panes of 100.
