Notes
Scout paddling a kayak; Scout fleur-de-lis; portrait of the ruler
Series history
Qatar issued seven commemoratives on 15 September 1967 for the Diamond Jubilee of Scouting (1907–1967) and the 12th World Scout Jamboree held in Idaho, United States. Bradbury Wilkinson designed and printed the set by lithography and engraving, perforated 11½ × 11, in panes of fifty. The 1 dirham pairs diamond panels of Brownsea Island in 1907 and the Idaho jamboree camp in 1967 with the World Scout emblem between them; the 2 dirham carries a portrait of Lord Baden-Powell. The five higher values (3 dirhams to 2 riyals) each show a Scout activity — riding, kayaking, swimming, climbing, or saluting the Qatari flag — beside a portrait of the ruler and the Scout fleur-de-lis. Printings were 500,000 of the 1 dirham, 300,000 of the 2 dirham, 200,000 each of the 3 and 5 dirhams, 80,000 each of the 15 and 75 dirhams, and 45,000 of the 2 riyals.
