Circular Scout emblem with fleur-de-lis, Kaaba and Saudi palm-and-swords; light blue ground.
Series history
Saudi Arabia issued five commemorative stamps at Jeddah on 28 March 1967 for the 2nd Arabic and Islamic Rover Moot held in Mecca from 13 to 28 March 1967. De La Rue printed the set by offset lithography on coated paper, comb perforated 13½. One hundred and sixty thousand copies of each value were produced.
The shared design centres on a circular Scout emblem: a yellow fleur-de-lis bearing a small view of the Kaaba, two red stars on the side petals, the Saudi palm and crossed swords above, and a green laurel wreath around. The emblem is inscribed 2nd ROVER MOOT MECCA 1967; below, a white panel carries the bilingual legend 2nd A. & I. ROVER MOOT with the Gregorian dates and MECCA. The country name appears in Arabic and English at the top, and the printer imprint DE LA RUE along the foot. The five grounds are dark blue (1 p), green (2 p), light blue (3 p), pink-brown (4 p) and brown (10 p).
