Two Scouts, labelled Canada (tan shirt, red neckerchief, brown beret) and France (red shirt, yellow neckerchief), against trees and sky. 5 CENTS. Inscribed 13th INTERNATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE / JAPAN — AUGUST 1971 and GRENADA; gold fleur-de-lis at upper left; jamboree shield (13th WORLD JAMBOREE 1971 NIPPON) and a cherry-blossom spray in a grey panel at right. Black AIR MAIL overprint reading up at left.

Series history

On 5 June 1972 Grenada overprinted the previous year’s 13th World Scout Jamboree stamps AIR MAIL, reading up in black. G. Vasarhelyi designed the four pairs: Canada and France (5 cents), West Germany and the United States (35 cents), Australia and Japan (50 cents), and Grenada and Great Britain (75 cents). Each stamp is inscribed 13th INTERNATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE / JAPAN — AUGUST 1971 and GRENADA, with a gold fleur-de-lis and a grey panel holding the jamboree shield and a spray of cherry blossom. Format International printed the designs in lithography, comb perforated 11.
