Series history
On 23 May 1977 Antigua issued seven commemoratives and a souvenir sheet for the 6th Caribbean Scout Jamboree, held that year in Jamaica. Accounts place the camp at the University of the West Indies, Mona, from late September. Each stamp is inscribed Caribbean Boy Scout Jamboree Jamaica 1977 and carries the World Scout emblem.
Waddington Studios designed the set. The House of Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, 43 × 29 mm, in panes of 50.
The half-cent, captioned Settling into camp, shows Scouts pitching a white tent, tending a pot over a fire, and carrying a crate marked ANTIGUA. The 1 cent is captioned Hiking: four Scouts walk toward the viewer. The 2 cents, Rock climbing, shows three Scouts on a brown slope, one on a rope. The 10 cents, Cutting logs, shows three Scouts at a bow saw and a log on a branch sawhorse. The 30 cents, Map and sign reading, shows Scouts over a map labelled JAMAICA, a compass and a stick arrow. The 50 cents, First aid, shows two casualty groups with bandages. The 2 dollars, Rafting, shows four Scouts on a barrel-and-bamboo raft flying the Antigua and Barbuda flag.
The souvenir sheet, 127 × 114 mm, reprints the 30 cent, 50 cent and 2 dollar designs. The margin names ANTIGUA and shows three Scouts labelled Boy Scouts of the First, Second and Third Antigua.
