Series history
The Grenadines of Grenada issued seven commemoratives and a souvenir sheet at Carriacou on 7 December 1977 for the 6th Caribbean Scout Jamboree, held at Kingston, Jamaica, from 5 to 14 August 1977. Each stamp is landscape, 42 × 28 mm, inscribed SIXTH CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE, JAMAICA, 1977 and GRENADA GRENADINES, with a coloured Scout fleur-de-lis disc at left, a matching value disc at right, and a rope frame tied in a reef knot. Opinion differs on whether the issue was a postal issue.
Gordon Drummond designed the set. The House of Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, without a watermark.
The half-cent, lettered SWIMMING AND LIFE - SAVING, shows a Scout towing another through surf. The 1 cent, OVERNIGHT HIKE, has two Scouts with a map and a file on a hill. The 2 cents, CUB SCOUTS / ROPES AND KNOTS, shows a kneeling leader and six Cubs with rope. The 22 cents, SCOUTS PATROL / ERECTING TENT, shows five Scouts raising an orange tent. The 35 cents, GANG SHOW / LIMBO DANCE, shows a limbo under bunting. The 75 cents, COOKING LUNCH ON A CAMPFIRE, shows three Scouts at a brick hearth. The 3 dollars, SEA SCOUTS' / YACHT RACE, shows four small yachts off a palm beach.
The souvenir sheet, 109 × 85 mm, places a $2 stamp lettered PIONEERING PROJECT / SPRING BRIDGE on a camp scene: two Scouts carry a log, another works wood, and orange A-frame tents stand behind.
