Notes
Photogravure, comb 13. Camp music / country music. One of two Scout values in the five-value Work and Joy set (Scott 409–413). Domfil 942.2. Print run 1,000,000 (SOSOW).
Series history
On 1 June 1942 Bulgaria issued a five-value commemorative set for the national «Work and Joy» movement (Domfil: Joy and Strength / Júbilo y Fuerza). Only two designs are scouting: the 2 lev carmine «Camp Music» (Scott 410 / Michel 438 / Domfil 942.2) and the 7 lev black-blue «Camp Wake-up Call» (Scott 412 / Michel 440 / Domfil 942.4). SOSOW records a print run of 1,000,000 for each Scout value, photogravure, comb 13.
The three non-scout companions of the set (Scott 409, 411, 413) appear only as optional related images. Collectors have long differed on how strongly the designs count as Scouts-on-Stamps versus general youth / «Work and Joy» propaganda; Domfil and SOSOW both list the two values as Scout catalogue material, which is the treatment used here.
