A Girl Guide in brown uniform and green beret holding an open purple book, beside an elder in white with a staff, on a patch of green with red flowers. Inscribed ETHIOPIA, Scout Movement, 30c and Amharic; COURVOISIER S.A. and E.T.O. M. & J. DUBOIS in the lower margin.
Series history
Ethiopia issued five commemorative stamps at Addis Ababa on 10 July 1973, inscribed Scout Movement in English, ETHIOPIA, and Amharic. Marianne and Jacques Dubois designed the set; the stamps are lettered E.T.O. M. & J. DUBOIS. Courvoisier S.A. printed it by photogravure on granite paper, comb perforated 11½, about 26 × 36 mm. One hundred thousand of each value were printed.
The 5 c shows three Scouts from behind, saluting the Ethiopian national flag and a Scout flag with a red fleur-de-lis. The 15 c shows a road through trees and a triangular road sign with a Scout digging. The 30 c shows a Girl Guide in brown with an open book, beside an elder in white. The 40 c places two figures — one with a sling and head bandage, one with a crutch — over a large Scout silhouette giving the salute. The 60 c is a portrait of a Scout in a campaign hat under a sunburst arch.
